Endowments offer an excellent way to create a lasting gift to Kent State University at Ashtabula, a gift that will benefit students, faculty and staff now and for generations to come.
Gifts to these funds are pooled and invested for the long term and the university may only spend a small portion of the income on those investments each year. Endowments are created with a minimum $25,000 gift, either outright or through a pledge that may be fulfilled over a period of time up to five years, or designated through one’s estate plans. Endowment funds may be established with a Memorandum of Understanding outlining the instructions and purposes of the fund, as well as the pledge payment schedule, if warranted.
Endowed Named Scholarship – these gifts are used to create scholarships in perpetuity. Funds may bear the donor’s name or the name of a loved one as a lasting legacy. Individual funds are then awarded to students who match the donor’s criteria, creating a powerful, enduring connection between giver and receiver.
Program Fund – Supports various programs on the campus for research, the purchase of equipment, etc.
Lecture, Speaker, Etc. – Supports an endowed lecture, speaker series, performance, visiting professor or visiting artist. It is used to advance and promote professional education, cultural enrichment or understanding a specific field of study on the campus.
Benefits for You:
- Earnings fund scholarship, lecture series or other programs
- Earnings must be applied as specified by the donor, in perpetuity
- Donors receive annual reports on the status of the fund
