Financial issues are the single largest barrier to students seeking a higher education.
Scholarships are how we help students benefit from the excellence that thrives at Kent State University Ashtabula. Whether you are an alumnus of Kent State University, know someone who is a current or past student, or simply value all the campus offers, your contribution goes well beyond a donation. It is how deserving students cross the threshold between a dream and an experience, and how a lifelong relationship of friendship and appreciation begins.
Kent State University at Ashtabula has been a valued educational resource and community partner for more than 50 years, and we invite you to become a partner in our mission to provide for the diverse educational and cultural needs of the community by establishing a scholarship. Whether you desire to establish a general scholarship or an endowed named fund to honor or remember a loved one, Kent State University at Ashtabula is here to help you establish a;
Need-Based Scholarship – A Kent State University education makes our students richer, intellectually and emotionally. While we try to keep our fees reasonable, the costs of tuition and books continue to rise. Nine out of ten students who attend Kent State University at Ashtabula need financial assistance. Private scholarship support enables us to help students who might otherwise be locked out of all that college offers.
Merit-Based Scholarship – For students whose accomplishments deserve recognition, these scholarships are generally awarded to students with either a high school or college GPA of 3.25 or higher and take part in extracurricular activities or community groups. Scholarships allow these high-achieving students to continue to learn, explore and become leaders.
Endowed Named Scholarship – these gifts are used to create scholarships in perpetuity. Funds may bear the donor’s name or the name of a loved one as a lasting legacy. Individual funds are then awarded to students who match the donor’s criteria, creating a powerful, enduring connection between giver and receiver.
We understand how perplexing all of this can be, and that you may have additional questions, but we’re here to help. If none of these options sounds exactly right at this time we can establish a temporary fund and consult you at a future date to work out the details. Kent State University at Ashtabula understands the importance of scholarships and we look forward to working with you.
