Associate of Applied Science in Occupational Therapy Assistant Technology

Occupational therapy is a health rehabilitation profession that uses activities as treatment to help people of all ages perform the skills they need to live as independently as possible. Occupational therapy assistant programs teach students the knowledge and skills needed for assessment and execution of tasks with their clients that lead to more productive, active lifestyles and independence.

Certified occupational therapist assistants (COTA’s) assist with the evaluation and treatment of individuals with injuries, illnesses, cognitive impairments, psychosocial dysfunctions, mental illness, developmental or learning disabilities, physical disabilities, or other disorders or conditions. COTA’s work under the supervision of occupational therapists (OTs).
