Honors College Alumni, Career Services Partner to Plan Professional Development Workshops for Humanities MajorsPosted Sep. 17, 2013
The Honors College, in collaboration with Honors alumni and the Career Services Center, is launching a set of programs to assist Honors students in humanities disciplines in learning more about successful career planning strategies.
Throughout the academic year, the Honors College will provide professional development workshops on topics such as identifying potential career avenues, choosing internships wisely, preparing resumés, and interview techniques and strategies. Programs will be targeted specifically to students majoring in humanities disciplines such as English, history, and philosophy.
The idea for these programs grew out of a discussion among members of theHonors College Advisory Board, a group of Honors alumni and friends who donate their skills and resources in support of Honors students.
Students who participate in these programs will be invited to join members of the Honors College Advisory Board at a social event in the spring semester.
The first program in the series is "Identifying Potential Careers for Humanities Majors." The event will be held on Tuesday, October 1 at 7:00 p.m. in the Honors College. Students must register in advance using the no later than September 26.
