The KSU School of Art Downtown Gallery presents the 12th Annual National Juried Cup Show March 13 through April 20, 2013.
The gallery will celebrate the opening of the exhibit with a reception Thurs., March 14 from 5-7 p.m., free and open to the public. The Downtown Gallery is located at 141 E. Main St. in Kent, Ohio, with free parking available behind the gallery.
The annual competition requires all submitted works to feature clay as the primary medium. More than $1000 in prizes will be awarded to the show’s winners.
Cups traveled to the Downtown Gallery from all over the nation. The Downtown Gallery received a total of 214 submissions from 32 states. 99 cups will be displayed in the show, and many will be for sale. Some cups available for purchase were donated to help support the ceramics graduate student scholarship fund.
Kirk Mangus, professor of art and head of ceramics at Kent State University, served as the exhibition’s juror. Mangus earned his BFA at the Rhode Island School of Design and his MFA at Washington State University. His ceramics and drawings have been exhibited nationally and internationally.
