Kent State University at Stark will host Planning Your Transition, presented by Student Accessibility Services, on Wednesday, May 22 at 6 p.m. in the Academic Success Center, located in the lower level of the Campus Center, 6000 Frank Avenue NW in Jackson Township. The presentation is free and open to the public.
Planning Your Transition is designed to answer questions frequently asked by parents and students about going to college with a disability. This presentation is applicable to any student with a disability, preparing to attend any higher education institution.
Included in the open discussion will be information on how to navigate college with a physical, physiological or learning disability; the skills students need to succeed in college; the rights and responsibilities of students under the Americans with Disabilities Act; the academic accommodations process; how the Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation can help; and which questions to ask before choosing a college or university. Planning Your Transition will end with a question and answer session.
