Faculty Lecture Series
Kent State University at Ashtabula welcomes the public to attend upcoming Faculty Lecture Series events. The campus offers these events free of charge to students and the public, and a variety of topics are presented and discussed. The format for the Faculty Lecture Series consists of Kent State professors presenting on their current or recently published research. The lecture series showcases the wide variety of research professors participate in.
The next Faculty Lecture Series presentation will be on Thursday, October 10, from 7:00-8:30 p.m. in the Kent State Ashtabula auditorium. Dr. Paul Gaston, Trustee Professor of English at Kent State University and experienced scholar, will be presenting on his research in "transgressive" hit songs in early rock 'n' roll that sustain the simple but disturbing theme of the lure of young girls to older men. His presentation is titled "Innocent fun or illicit desire? Robbin' the cradle in rock 'n' roll."
"We're very happy that a renowned scholar like Dr. Gaston will be presenting at our next Faculty Lecture Series event. We hope our students and the community will take advantage of this opportunity to hear him speak," said Dr. Payman Nasr, Associate Professor at Kent State Ashtabula and organizer of the event.
