Honors Student Takes Home Top Prize at Hyde Park ForumPosted Apr. 25, 2011
Husk was one of hundreds of students who submitted outlines to the Hyde Park Forum qualifying committee. Husk was among six other speakers who presented their speeches in front of nearly 400 people in Kent Student Center Ballroom. Megan spoke out against 3-D films, and after a panel of judges reviewed all speeches at the competition, she was selected as the winner.
"The competition was a great way to express my opinion in a safe and friendly atmosphere," Husk said. She got to meet new people and refine her communication skills.
She also received the opportunity to defend a topic she strongly supports. The Hyde Park Forum is an annual persuasive speech competition sponsored by the School of Communication Studies. The competition invites students from the COMM 15000 course, Introduction to Human Communication, to submit their persuasive speech outlines for consideration.
Husk took home a $500 cash prize as a well as an engraved plaque.
