Radiologic Technology students place firstPosted Apr. 28, 2011
Students from the Kent State University at Ashtabula radiologic technology program returned from a state competition recently with a first place plaque. Students took first place in the Academic Quiz Bowl competition at the Ohio Society of Radiologic Technologists (OSRT) annual meeting in Columbus.
Each year students from accredited radiology programs throughout the state of Ohio attend this annual meeting and educational event. According to the OSRT, the function of the quiz bowl, “…is to review radiography curriculum content in an interesting format that will foster discussion of technical information relevant to radiologic technology.”
The Ashtabula Campus students on this year’s quiz bowl team were Jacob Barnes, Brittany Felleisen, Dylan Grenier, Kelly Kozjek, Kim Mariotti, Lori Mayfield, Sean Ollila and Kari Rouzer,
The radiography school program director of Children's Hospital Medical Center of Akron was impressed with the performance. David Whipple, in a note of congratulations, wrote, “Great job on the Quiz Bowl team this year. What an honor for such a young program.”
“I am so proud of my students,” Gail Schroeder, Ashtabula Campus RADT program director, said. “This is an amazing accomplishment for such a young program,” she said.
The radiologic technology program has been available on the Ashtabula Campus for three years.
