New academic advisor for Kent State at AshtabulaPosted Oct. 22, 2010
Irene Skleres has joined the enrollment management team at Kent State University at Ashtabula. Skleres assumed her role as advisor/recruiter for early college and interdisciplinary programs on October 18.
Skleres will advise students in the bachelor of Applied Studies and the Bachelor of General Studies programs. She will also recruit and advise students in the Post Secondary Enrollment Options program.
She was most recently with the Ashtabula County Continued Education Support Services where she worked with high school students on preparing them for the college application process. She was an in-school advisor for nine years before becoming the program director for the last two years.
Her work with ACCESS has made her very familiar with what a student needs to start a college education. "I want to continue to work on early awareness with the PSEO program," Skleres said. "I also want to help students stay on track and take advantage of the opportunities presented them," she said.
Skleres is looking forward to her new challenge. "I like that I'm going to be back working with the students because it's all about helping them," she said.
