Dr. Abbey L. Eng, new assistant professor of social and behavioral science, has come home to Kent State after a spending just over a year at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU).  Eng is coordinating and teaching the undergraduate biostatistics course.  She taught online sections of Public Health Research this past spring and summer, and she also taught the Seminar in Public Health Prevention last spring.  “I love statistics, which is the core of public health,” Eng says.  Her previous Kent State role was research assistant in the Institute for the Study and Prevention of Violence, where she was responsible for data collection, cleaning and analysis and for report preparation, among other duties.  She performed similar work at the Semi J. and Ruth W. Begun Center for Violence Prevention Education and Research in the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences at CWRU.  “I’ve always been interested in social problems and have worked on a lot of research projects involving violence and mental health and the mental health of adolescents and their families,” she says.
