Go Fish! Pair of Trumbull students advance to regional event

Posted Sep. 3, 2013
Kent State University at Trumbull students, and members of the Kent State Bass Fishing Team, GregoryGreg Perry and Trevor White Perry and Trevor White, have qualified for the 2013 Chesapeake Bay Regional Invitational to be held Sept. 14-15, in Perryville, Maryland.

Perry, a senior from Cortland, and White, a sophomore from Newton Falls, qualified for the event in a roundabout fashion at last June’s Potomac River Tournament in Maryland. After finishing 17th at the five-bass limit event, the duo was made aware that two teams which had finished in the top 15 had already qualified for Chesapeake Bay. Due to that circumstance, two additional places were extended to the Nos. 16 and 17 teams, allowing the Kent State Trumbull pair to move on.

Teams with a top 10 finish at the Chesapeake Bay event will move on to the 2014 FLW College Fishing National Championship. Additional event details regarding that event have yet to be announced.

FLW College Fishing teams complete in four qualifying event in one of five conferences – Central, Northern, Southern, Southeastern and Western. The top 15 teams from each regular-season tournament qualify for one of five conference invitational tournaments. The top 10 teams from each conference invitational tournament then advance to the 2014 FLW College Fishing National Championship.
