Kent State University Gospel Choir Coming to SalemPosted Feb. 20, 2013
Salem, Ohio – Kent State University’s Gospel Choir will perform a free concert on Saturday, March 2, at 4 p.m. at the Kent State City Center in Salem.
The choir is directed by Dr. Linda B. Walker, a professor at Kent State University. Founded in 1996 by Walker, the Kent State Gospel Choir has earned an excellent local, regional, national and international reputation. In 2011, the choir was invited to perform at the Prague Gospel Festival.
Choir members include students, faculty, staff and members of the community. While its members may vary each semester, Walker’s consistent values and expectations help the choir uphold its reputation. The choir will perform a diverse selection of gospel music, reflecting the diversity of its members and their varied backgrounds.
The concert will take place in the auditorium of the City Center, located at 230 N. Lincoln Ave., in Salem.
The Kent State Columbiana County Campuses, which is comprised of Kent State University at East Liverpool and Kent State University at Salem offers its students 27 programs, including 13 bachelor’s degrees locally.
